Macro Security template w/selfcert: Where's the Checkbox, Always Trust?

Windows 2000
Word 2000

I tried it both ways ....
Macro Security Med., Trusted Sources checked is Always trust all addins...
Macro Security Med., Trusted Sources NOT checked is Always trust all
addins...

TIA

Hi Jeff,

It is something of a rigmarole to get a selfcert-generated certificate to be
trusted, but it can be done.

On the Security Warning dialog, click the Details button. On the dialog that
appears next, click "View Certificate", and on the dialog that then appears
click "Install certificate". On the Certificate Import Wizard that then
appears, just keep clicking Next until you come to the end of the process,
and then click "Finish". Close the remaining dialogs by clicking OK, until
you return to the Security Warning.

Now, the "Always trust macros from this source" checkbox should no longer be
greyed out, and you can then check it before clicking Enable Macros.

Jonathan, thanks for your post.

Let me be clear, the Trusted Sources is a tab in |Tools |Macros |Security,
choosing Always trust I thought would show the dialog that I'm currently
seeing, sans Always trust from this source, so I un-checked it and I still
see the same dialog.

When I open the template, I want to see the dialog that you mention, but I
only have Yes, No, Help and there isn't an Always trust check box grayed or
otherwise, it's as if there isn't a cert.

TIA

I found the issue, if I right-click and select |Open on the template I see
the warning to enable or disable macros.

However, if I select from within Word, |File |Open then I see the dialog
with the checkbox for |Allways trust....

I'm sure there's a very good reason for this behavior, however who'd have
thought that the two methods for opening a file are different?
