Hi,

I have a ".dot" file containg a toolbar and some macros. I have placed
this template in the word startup directory. On most of the machines
in the office the add-in is added and the toolbar is displayed
automatically.

However on one machine the add-in is not added automatically and I
have to go into "Tools->Templates and Add-ins" and load the template
manually each time by checking the checkbox next to the templates
name. I have to do this everytime I open Word

I have tried re-installing Word but the problem still occurrs.

Does nayone have any suggestions.

Cheers,

Steve

Does that machine have any other add-ins loading, such as PDFMaker?

Is macro security set to High? Have they set the security option to
'automatically trust installed templates and add-ins"?

In addition to the other suggestions...

Have you tried using a clean, freshly created normal.dot on the problem
machine? I had similar problems with add in menus that weren't displaying on
one particular machine, but when I renamed the normal.dot and let Word create
a new one on open, the add in's menus displayed correctly.

I'd been programmatically customizing the old normal.dot and was advised in
one of these threads that doing so could corrupt the template -- my problem
disappeared when I used the fresh normal.dot so I assume that the old
normal.dot had developed some sort of issues that prevented Word from
handling the add ins properly.

Hi Steve,
Steve you said that you have .dot file which has some
macros and tool bar.
One work arround would be,
Start---Run---type %appdata% and click OK
Open Microsoft folder.
Open templates folder.
There you have File name with Normal.dot. rename it
to "oldNormal" without any extension.
Open the particular .dot file in which you have the macros
and then rename it to Normal.dot file and save it in
templates folder where we renamed the main .dot file.

Hope this may help you.

Even better idea; MOVE the code from the normal.dot into a purpose-build
start-up template.
